This Privacy Policy explains how LegalEase AI processes and protects user information.
Note: This document is originally written in English. Any translated versions are provided for your convenience only. In the event of any dispute or discrepancy, the original English version shall be legally binding.
1. Information We Collect
LegalEase AI is built to operate with minimal data collection to maximize user privacy. When using the platform, the following types of information may be temporarily processed:
- User Queries: Text messages or documents uploaded to be analyzed by the AI.
- Uploaded Documents: PDFs uploaded to the Document Simplifier are processed in volatile memory.
- Basic Request Metadata: Browser type, device details, and basic technical parameters necessary to facilitate API requests.
Our rate-limiting system temporarily processes user IP addresses to ensure service reliability, prevent API abuse, and manage quotas. We adhere to strict data-minimization practices:
- No Full IP Storage: LegalEase AI does not store or log your full IP address.
- Masked and Anonymized Logs: Any operational or execution logs generated by our serverless helper function utilize masked and anonymized IP formats (e.g., masking the end of the address, like
192.168.1.xxx or 2001:db8:85a3:****).
- No Profiling: We do not link IP addresses to any personal identity, nor do we track users across other websites.
3. How We Use Information
Any processed data is used solely to deliver and improve our services, including:
- Generating educational legal summaries, complaint letters, and simplified legal document text.
- Preventing system abuse and DDoS attacks.
- Enforcing rate limits.
- Debugging system errors and improving application uptime.
4. AI Processing
LegalEase AI uses secure third-party Artificial Intelligence services to process user requests and generate responses.
To maintain reliability, performance, and service availability, requests may be processed by one or more trusted AI service providers selected automatically by our systems.
For security and operational reasons, we do not publicly disclose our complete infrastructure or provider configuration.
User data is processed only for the purpose of generating the requested response and operating the service.
5. Data Storage & Retention
All user queries and uploaded document contents are processed in memory and are not stored permanently on our databases. Temporary uploads (such as PDFs being processed) are deleted immediately after parsing is completed. Rate-limiting data and request counts are stored temporarily in secure, temporary cache storage and expire automatically.
6. Local Storage & Cookies
LegalEase AI does not use tracking or advertising cookies. We may use browser Local Storage or session state strictly for essential user preferences, such as preserving your theme selection (dark/light mode) or saving temporary chat session history locally on your own device.
7. Security
We implement standard operational security measures, including HTTPS encryption for all transit data, to protect your inputs. However, no online service can guarantee absolute security. Users are cautioned not to upload documents containing highly sensitive personal, financial, or state secrets.
8. Children's Privacy
Our service is geared towards legal education and is not intended for children under 13 without supervision by a parent or guardian.
9. Third-Party Links
Our platform may contain links to external government portals, consumer forums, or third-party web services. We do not control and are not responsible for the privacy practices of external entities.
10. Policy Updates
This Privacy Policy may be updated occasionally. We encourage users to check this page periodically to remain informed about how we safeguard their privacy.
